*** I meant to say, "The reason programs like Office boot so quickly" not "problems" lol. Would be nice to be able to edit comments after they've been posted.

I use Office 2003 with 2007 compatibility pack so I can read and create doc and docx files. With Win Vista and Win 7 they both use a new prefetch feature that's more advanced than XP's prefetch concept. However, just because it's more advanced doesn't mean it's all together better. There's a site that has 99 Vista performance tweaks and it includes information about the prefetch. The reason problems like office boot so quickly is because they are actually loaded into memory at the OS boot time. Thus disabling prefetch would increase OS boot times. It's a trade off. Here's the link to the 99 Vista tweaks: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=2238

Can't wait to listen, I saw the Win 7 upgrade special price, and I wanted to let everyone know that the upgrade price is $39 and 89 at MicroCenter which is 10 bucks cheaper than Amazon and Microsoft. I also heard Costco has it for 5 bucks off the regular price as well.
